The village of Lippiano, a 5-minute drive from the house, has a small bar/café and post office which is open on Tuesday and Thursday mornings. Monterchi , a few minutes further on, will be your nearest port of call for the small supermarket, Punto (open until 8pm in the evenings and on Sunday mornings) which sells all essentials and more, including wonderful red meat and serves a very good morning coffee – the owners and staff are charming.
You will also find a Bancomat in Monterchi, a pharmacy, two café/bars and a good local restaurant, La Pieve Vecchia, which has a delightful terrace for outdoor dining in the summer. La Papaia sells all the fresh fruit and vegetables you could want and a weekly market is held in the village every Sunday morning. To really stock up, visit the historic towns of Sansepolcro or Città di Castello, both of which are equidistant from Casa Verde but in opposite directions, have large supermarkets, weekly markets and a good selection of shops.
